Turkey Shares Its Experience in Textile with Kyrgyzstan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built the “Textile Development Center” in Kyrgyzstan in cooperation with the Egemendik Association.

TİKA built the “Textile Development Center” to transfer Turkey’s 50 years of experience in the Textile and Ready-Made Clothing industry to Kyrgyzstan.

The center houses a conference hall, a classroom, a design workshop, and the first textile laboratory of Kyrgyzstan. In the laboratory, all kinds of physical and chemical tests of fabrics and auxiliary materials will be performed within the framework of international standards, and the results of these tests will be certified.

The fully-equipped classroom, which has a capacity of 20 people, has a model shop, where the basic operations for the preparation of collections at the product design stage will be performed, a showroom, a textile library, and pattern printing software.

The center aims to improve the mutual textile trade and professionalize Kyrgyzstan’s textile industry. The specialists in the center will provide textile consultancy service to companies. In addition, internationally valid design certificates will be awarded to trainees who will attend the training courses in the center.

More than 150,000 people work in the textile industry, which has an important place in Kyrgyzstan’s economy. According to official data, the annual export of the industry is approximately $200 million.
