TİKA Supports Cultural and Art Activities in Palestine

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) implemented two projects to support cultural and artistic activities in East Jerusalem.

TİKA provided technical equipment to the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music (ESNCM), which has branches in 5 different cities in Palestine and offers different music degree programs to more than 1000 Palestinian young people. The Agency built a state-of-the-art recording studio at the Ramallah branch and a string instrument repair shop at the Bethlehem branch.

Established at Birzeit University in 1993, the National Conservatory of Music was renamed Edward Said National Conservatory of Music (ESNCM) in 2004 in memory of Edward Said, a world-renowned scientist, theorist, and human rights activist and an advocate of Palestinians.

Support for the infrastructure of the Yabous Cultural Centre

TİKA renovated the rehearsal hall, piano room, and dressing rooms at the Yabous Cultural Centre, a non-governmental organization headquartered in East Jerusalem, in order to create a better environment for artistic and cultural activities.

Founded in 1995, the center hosts musical events such as the Annual Jerusalem Music Festival, Al Quds Popular Art Festival, Al Quds Storytelling Festival, and Jazz Festival. Furthermore, First Exhibition, art workshops, and National Culture Week events are held at the center for the young artists.
