The Zeytindaği Stadium Lighting Project In Jerusalem Has Been Completed
The project to provide the lighting for the Jerusalem Zeytindağ Stadium managed by the Jerusalem Zeytindağ Sports Club located in Zeytindağ Jerusalem was completed by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Directorate.
TİKA, the organization which has undertaken a number of different projects to help the development of Palestine and support its people, realized a project to provide the lighting for the Zeytindağ Stadium managed by the Jerusalem Zeytindağ Sports Club, which is used by Moslem Arabs and located in a strategic area of Jerusalem.
The stadium land is located in Zeytindağ on a property that was donated to the German Protestant church during the reign of Sultan 2. Abdülhamit. A stadium was built on the land included on the property of the building, which was used as a military command during World War I by Ottoman soldiers also provides services to Moslem Arabs presently as the Augusta Victoria hospital, with the contributions of the Islamic Development Bank in order to head off uncontrolled inhabitation in the area. The installation of the lighting system for the stadium was undertaken by TİKA in line with the request made by the Palestinian Ministry of Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate and the Sports Club.
6 posts with spot lights at 14 meters long were installed and electrical renovation was done in the scope of the project so that the stadium could be used night and day. By virtue of this project, which is even more important due to the limited areas in which young people can do sports throughout Palestine, a sports facility has been provided for the Palestinian young people to benefit from.
During the ceremony in which the work within the scope of the project was introduced, an exhibition game was played by the young members of the Zeytindağı Sports Club. The ceremony was attended by the TİKA Middle East and Africa Department Chairman Enver Arpa, TİKA officials, the Zeytindağı Sports Club officials and the Palestine Football Federation board of directors members. In the speeches made by the officials in attendance, it was said that all of the projects realized by the Turkish side were greatly appreciated by the Palestinian people and that they always felt the support of their Turkish brothers with them.
