The protocol on the “Djibouti Agriculture Master Plan Preparatory Project”, a joint project between TIKA and the Republic of Djibouti was signed by TİKA President Musa Kulaklıkaya and Agriculture, Livestock and Sea Minister of Djibouti Abulkader Kamil Muhammed. The ceremony was attended by State Minister Prof. Dr. Said Yazıcıoğlu and agricultural experts from Djibouti.
In his speech, State Minister Prof. Dr. Said Yazıcıoğlu during the ceremony of signing the protocol, pointed out that TİKA expanded its geographic area of interest by including the Middle East and Africa. The organization has already carried out many projects devoted to increasing capacity in various sectors from water supply and health to agriculture and education. Minister Yazıcıoğlu further told that agricultural engineers and veterinarians got training in the modern business enterprises in Turkey and he continued his talk by expressing his belief that the “Djibouti Agriculture Master Plan Preparatory Project” will contribute to both the development of on-going mutual close cooperation between the two states and to the achievement of sustainable development in agricultural and animal husbandry sectors in Djibouti.
The Agriculture, Livestock and Sea Minister of Djibouti Abulkader Kamil Muhammed, expressed his thanks to the Turkish government and TİKA for the support it gave in the agricultural sectors. Further, he continued, the protocol to be signed between these two Muslim and brotherly states will start a new phase of cooperation in other areas.
Establishing that food security and availability of healthy food are of primary importance, TİKA President Musa Kulaklıkaya stated that there is a global effort underway for finding a solution to this problem. President Kulaklıkaya informed the meeting that an agricultural master plan for 5 African states will be prepared for exploring the agricultural potential of Africa.
At the conclusion of the signing ceremony, State Minister Prof. Dr. Said Yazıcıoğlu, TİKA President Musa Kulaklıkaya and Prof. Dr. Cemal Taluğ, Dean, Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture presented the certificates to the agricultural experts, who had received their training in Turkey.
